This process “Release & Deployment Management” involves two individuals who would be responsible for each of these processes. The Release Manager and the Deployment Manager. In practical scenarios, the same individual may play both the roles.
The Release Manager:
The Release Manager is the individual who is responsible for the whole Release Process.
The Release Packaging and Design Manager’s responsibilities include:
• Establishing the final release configuration and building the final release
• Testing the release and publishing known errors and workarounds
Deployment Manager:
The Deployment Manager is the individual who is responsible for all the Deployment Activities during the process.
The Deployment Manager’s responsibilities include:
• Planning, scheduling and controlling the movement of Releases to test in live environments
• Ensuring that the integrity of the live environment is protected and that the correct components are released.
